Wikipedia

Wikipedia has always been a wonderful tool in my college research. However, now that I have moved to upper level classes, I have found that more more and professor frown upon wikipedia being a research source. I understand that it is an open media and that any Joe, Sally or Frank can post/ edit a topic. However, when you are researching topics involving higher education, I find it impossible that someone with inaccurate knowledge of the topic could post a believable post.

Do I believe that it should be banned from all learning? No, but I believe that for responses and shot papers, it is a fine source. But, for some research, only academic Web sites can be used, and that is where the Wikipedia line should be drawn.

Also, I feel this sit has proved how much the internet has pulled people knowledge from all over the world together. For a "normal" encyclopedia a panel of experts would be used. But this resource pulls individual knowledge from all over the world.
