Cayce has a strong aversion to anything mass produced. She loathes anything that can be bought in mass quantity. This ranges from logo’s such as the Michelin tire logo, to anything Tommy Hilfiger. The aversion to Tommy is so intense that she has an “allergic reaction” when she comes into contact with one, whether it be seeing, wearing or touching one. In today’s society this is something very difficult to avoid. Much of people status is placed on what they have on and “who they are wearing.” However with Cayce she defines trends and the meaning of “cool,” by finding items and clothing that are completely unique. Her jacket is her favorite article of clothing. It is simple and functional, two things I feel she desires more than anything.
The title of the novel, “Pattern recognition,” relates to her disparity towards patterns and common trends around people and styles. She can see these patterns and but feels that she is center of everything, almost as if she is living in a “Truman Show,” but cannot decipher the bigger meaning.
I think that the mass production of logos is connected to labor worldwide. Trends, labels, popular designers are a common trend among all modernized countries. All these things represent someone with money and class. This, in its self is a direct representation of status and labor. The average working man makes the clothes/ items that the rich man would wear. The rich man does not make the items for the average Joe. This has been the way of life for centuries and can be considered a pattern. The pattern recognition of socioeconomic status is one that will never change. I commend Cayce and her style for “going against the grain” and fighting the monotony of patterns.

Cyber Bully

I believe there is no way to actually make a "true" profile. Online people can be anyone they want. If my friends saw my picture attached to a page that claimed a was a bio-chem major from California, this would be false. However, I could not attach a picture and make the profile totally fictitious. I think by having real identity attached with repercussion's to a page is the only way to know it is real.

This case is awful, I remember when it happened. The mother is clearly at fault, but I am sure she never imagine it would lead to such great extents. There is no reason for a mother to be tampering with the lives of 13 year old girls. Although, Megan's mother should have talked to her about on-line relationships and should have been more aware of what her daughter was doing online.

Personally, I do not see any pleasure or positive aim for trolling. In the case of Mitchell it slandered him and caused further pain to his family and friends. I guess the aim for trollers would be to cause a laugh and prove that they can hack anything.
I disagree with both Jason, I don't believe in either, but I do not think anything is wrong in a court of law.

Wikipedia Project

I added citations and verified facts to the Sigma Kappa page at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sigma_Kappa

I also added the school sections to the Shadyside, Ohio page and added references at:

My group page was on the West Virginia Mountaineer at:

Wikipedia Response

I have started editing my two wikipedia pages. The first was a post on my hometown Shadyside, Ohio. I added information on the school system to this page, including statistics and references. The page needed more information, so I took on the school systems. The second one I worked on was the page for the Sigma Kappa Sorority page. It needed a citation on a fact with in the article. I added a citation about the philanthropy for Alzheimer’s. I actually had trouble with these tasks. I am familiar with HTML, but added citations were difficult for me. I also, played with the 5th NHL all-star game and added a few references. However, it is not completely finished.

I am stuck in between two creative commons, attribution non no derivatives and attribution-share alike. I believe the in my own personal work, such as my blog or a personal Web site such as my facebook account, that other people should not be allowed to alter or modify it. If I want comments or corrections the inquiring people can leave a message on my wall, or post a comment. If I were to write a blog and it generated enough “buzz” that someone wanted to copy and distribute it, I would be fine with that. However, I would want to know. On the flip side, I understand how problems occurred with music artists, during the Napster era. I would allow Public license on my work because it is not my main source of income. But, for break through artists, their managers and operations teams, selling albums is one of the first origins of profit.

On the flip side, if I was the ultimate creator of Wikipedia, I believe in the attribution- share alike creative commons. If I were to create a body of work that would be, in essence, an endless abyss of information for millions of people, I would not want that on my shoulders. It is impossible for one person to be the expert on everything. By allowing other people to edit and add to my work, it is opening up many doors. I may be an expert on styles of dance and Italian food; I am not an expert on chemistry. Therefore, someone can add to my work on that subject.

I disagree with Barlow’s declaration. Our legal concepts of property, expression, identify and movement is in fact based on matter. There is a difference between my physical home and my homepage, but not that much. I show just as much expression and movement through an article I have written on the internet as would through a painted I created. The declaration is based on a physical means, however in the current era we are moving toward the internet being the main focal point of expression and work. No longer do we have paper documents, we have documents via computer. Our world is changing to a Web based system and declarations and laws will adapt to the current state of being.
